February is dedicated to honouring the Holy Family, offering us a special opportunity to deepen our devotion and strengthen our family life. The Holy Family stands as the ultimate model for all families. In a 2001 Angelus address, St. John Paul II referred to “the family of Nazareth as a model for every home.”
Here are some ways to honour the Holy Family and invite their guidance into your home this month:
-
Consecrate your family to the Holy Family - commit your family to their intercession and example.
-
Pray a decade (or more) of the Rosary together each evening, asking the Holy Family to bless your family with peace and love.
-
Display a picture or a statue of the Holy Family in a prominent place in your home as a constant reminder of their example.
-
Set your phone wallpaper to an image of the Holy Family, prompting you ask them to pray for your family throughout the day.
-
Pray a Novena to the Holy Family - dedicate nine days to prayer, asking for their intercession and guidance for your family.
-
Each morning, offer a short prayer to the Holy Family, asking them to strengthen, guide and bless your family, as well as thanking them for their example and intercession. Write this prayer down and place it somewhere visible so you can reflect on it each day.
- Plan a day outing with your family. If practical, embark on a mini pilgrimage to a nearby shrine to reflect on the Holy Family's role in your lives. If there’s no shrine nearby, enjoy a meaningful day out together.
As we honour the Holy Family this February, may our families grow in love, patience, and faith.
Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, pray for us and for our families.
