After I was newly confirmed into the Catholic church, I started to learn who the saints were and how they could be a part of our lives. Not long after, when I was pregnant with our fifth child, I learned about St Jude, patron saint of hopeless and desperate cases. It was getting close to my due date, and our toddler was having some terribly sleepless nights. I was exhausted, and worried how I would cope with a new baby. So in desperation, I began a novena to St Jude. And the results shocked me! Our toddler, who hadn't yet slept a full night through, slept three full nights during the novena. It was just enough sleep to catch up on what I needed, and to convince me that there are saints in Heaven that care about our needs and are willing to pray for us when we ask them too.
To thank St Jude for asking this favour from God, I promised to name our baby after him, and to encourage others to have a devotion to him. Unfortunately, no one in the family wanted me to name him Jude, so he is Michael Jude instead.
Novena to St Jude:
Most holy Apostle, St Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honours and invokes you universally, as the patron of difficult cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone.
Intercede with God for me that He bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (make your request here), and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever.
I promise, O Blessed St Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour granted me by God and to always honour you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.

May the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, and loved in all the tabernacles until the end of time. Amen.
May the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised and glorified now and forever. Amen.
